2012 Photo Challenge: Week 9

Week Nine of our 365 Photo Challenge!

Spring has definitely sprung here. Which flowers are blooming are changing and I had some wild surprises this week from daffodils I thought were completely dead last year to a lizard taking a dip in the pool. The iceplant is just starting to bloom, soon the hillside will be one giant fuschia patch of buzzing bees. The hill beyond the roses behind the pool is a riot of color as well with the gazanias and the white and purple daisies blooming. Amazing what a different a week or two makes.

2012 Photo Challenge: Week 8

Week Eight of our 365 Photo Challenge!

As promised, some pictures from somewhere other than my backyard. I wasn’t able to post much earlier this week because we went to Austin, TX. We used to live there before we moved here to SoCal 8 years ago. We got to catch up with a few old friends and even DH’s cousin who was also in town for work. We got to visit the kids’ first elementary school and ran into a couple teachers and one of the nurses who is retiring this year. In Austin, they have a saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait 15 minutes.” Well, on Thursday it was around 90 degrees. Friday the high was 61 degrees. It was amazing to see the things that had changed (new malls, neighborhoods going to seed, TOLL roads!) and everything that hadn’t. Amy’s Ice Cream and Rudy’s BBQ were still the favorites of the day.

2012 Photo Challenge: Week 7

Week Seven of our 365 Photo Challenge! Kind of an odd mix subject wise this week. Lots more flowers. The camelias are almost done, but lots of others are just beginning to bloom. I’ve noticed I’ve been in portrait mode instead of landscape mode a lot lately. Not sure why. Everything I took today was vertical also. It’s less comfortable to hold the camera that way. I noticed I seem to take more landscape or horizontal oriented pictures with my iPhone, since it’s actually easier to click the volume button to take the picture that way.

I promise next week I’ll have some pictures from much farther afield! Hope you’re enjoying these recaps as much as I am taking them.

2012 Photo Challenge: Week 6

Six weeks in… doesn’t seem like it’s been that many already! I’m much happier with some of these than others, but mood has a lot to do with what I find the time and interest for taking pictures on a particular day. Friday and Saturday were kind of hectic days and I was lazy and just relied on my iPhone and predictably, those are the ones I’m least happy with.

It’s supposed to be rather rainy here this week, so we’ll see what happens. I keep meaning to catch the egrets that have been flocking to the nearby golf course and I even stopped on Friday but didn’t have my camera and I’d forgotten my phone as well on that trip to school. Definitely feeling the urge to do something different. I like the way the flowers come out, but I’m getting bored with them. I should start looking at the list of places I made last fall that I wanted to visit with my camera. Now, just to find the time to do everything. =)
