$5 Friday eReads

$5 Friday eReads: What can I read for under $5 this week?$5 Friday E-Reads were conceived because I’ve been contemplating a new type of blog post that’s both relevant and recurring. I’d also been thinking about listing what I’ve been reading lately, and thought this would potentially kill two birds with one metaphorical stone. I’m thinking I’ll either bundle a set of books that I know total $5 or less at the time of posting, or pick one book that’s $4.99 and see how that goes. I kinda like the 5 books for $5 or less idea too.

I don’t read exclusively on my iPad these days, but I do read most things there lately. Craft of writing and research books are more likely to be physical books because I can picture WHERE on the page and how far through the book I read or saw something and the kindle zaps that to uselessness.

I also tend to read rather widely and rather eclectically, so please let me know if you’d prefer a mixed bag like I’ve included below, or to do do themed weeks or something different.

Lemme know what you think and what books you’re looking forward to their release!

How to Manage the Time of Your Life (Short Subjects With Big Impact) Kindle Edition

James Scott Bell

This would be shelves with my other CRAFT OF WRITING books, but it’s more about Time Management and while its main audience is other writers, most of it is widely applicable to anyone who wants to find a way to do more of what they’re passionate about. It’s a short read, about 30 minutes on average but it’s filled with great and useful advice. You probably have heard/read most of the items before in one context or another, but at 30 minutes it’s a perfect quick refresher when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Good Cop: Heroes of Henderson ~ Book 1 Kindle Edition

Liz Kelly

This contemporary romance is set in a small Southern town accompanied by all the gossip and quirks that you’d expect if you’ve ever lived in a small town. Loved the hero and heroine’s journey and am saving book two in the series with the hero’s best friend as the star of that story as a reward for hitting my deadline at the end of this month. Nothing like a bad boy for a reward, huh? 😉

Level Up: A Geek Romance Rom Com, Book 1 (Fandom Hearts) Kindle Edition

Cathy Yardley

I warned you I read a very wide range of stuff, right? I’ve previously only read Cathy Yardley’s non-fiction books, but when Bria Quinlan said grab this one and then I saw the blurb, I was hooked!

And you may or may not know that I used to work in the video games industry and my husband still does. I get annoyed when I read something that wants to be a slice of life type deal and they get is ALMOST right, but fails in some pretty spectacular ways. THIS book doesn’t do that. It nails the industry in so many ways, but then it also takes some of it and turns it on its head in a way that needs to be done. I’ll definitely be back for more of this series too!

The Sport of Baronets (Romance of the Turf) Kindle Edition

Theresa Romain

Ahh, finally, a Regency romance! I really enjoyed this one and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series. I love horses, had 6 at one point growing up and love stories that deal with horses. But this one was well-written and totally had me immersed in the world and rooting for the hero and heroine. And the racehorse. Oh and the fact that there was a bit of mystery in there too?! Perfection. Totally worth half of this post’s budget!

The Christmas Knot: A Slightly Gothic Regency Mystery Romance Novella Kindle Edition

Barbara Monajem

Ok. I know it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, but really, this is a great read no matter when you read it. It just happens to be set right before Christmas, but you don’t have to be surrounded by all the seasonal trappings to enjoy this story. I loved the way the ghostly/paranormal element teased me as a reader. And I found the hero and heroine quite endearing.
