About Kristen Koster

Photo of Kristen KosterHi, my name is Kristen Koster and I’m a romance author who loves the Regency Era. Cravats, impeccable manners, polished leather boots? SOLD!

None of my writing is published yet, but I’m working to change that!

I’ve been reading romance and mostly historical romance for about 35 years now. My husband and I are bibliophiles with over 350 linear feet of books and a shortage of walls for bookcases. As a stay-at-home mom with two kids, I had plenty of free time to read while waiting to pick them up. Somehow, we’ve all survived and they’ve reached adulthood, which should leave me with even more time to read and write… right?!

I’ll read just about any genre, but I’ve learned one of the most important things for me is the Happy Ever After (HEA). Feel free to come browse my virtual bookshelves, or visit my GoodReads profile.

I started writing seriously again in the fall of 2007 but life has provided many interruptions. Since then, I’ve been collecting a lot of research and answering questions about the sub-genre which led to my Regency Primer Series.

Now, I’m not an extrovert, but I play one on-line. If you’re wondering who “Kaige” is, well, that’s me… in college my initials were K. J. and a friend slurred them to sound like “cage”. Another friend just spelled it like “Paige” and as a result that became my nickname and online persona for years.

To learn more about writing and romance in particular, I joined real world groups like RWA on the national level and the local level in San Diego. I’ve also embraced online networking through Facebook, Twitter and the fabulously knowledgeable Regency Fiction Writers, Inc./The Beau Monde, an online organization which specializes in Regency Fiction.

My background is in business, economics and game design, which just might explain my theoretical tendencies. Puzzles are designed to be solved and plots seem like they’re just huge puzzles waiting to be conquered. Must. Solve. Puzzle.

My grandfather was a professional photographer and the shutterbug runs strong in the family. I’m loving the flexibility of my digital SLR camera! A couple friends and I did a 366 Photo Challenge back in 2012. (Flickr set) and I did better than I’d expected with sticking to it. I’ve also tried my hand on a 52 Week project or two since. Way less pressure!

  1. Thank you so much for your wonderful links page. I’ve spent the last two weeks researching historical details and my eyes are starting to lose the ability to focus. Anything that makes the process easier is a miracle, so thanks.

Good luck with your book, I’m 75% done mine, officially hate all the characters in it and no longer have a social life. I really need to wrap this thing up and rejoin the present. *exhausted sigh*
